Volunteering in home care

We’re passionate about supporting people to live comfortably at home for as long as they choose.

As a HammondCare At Home volunteer, you’ll spend time with someone in your local community who may be lonely or socially isolated. Play games, watch a movie, have a cuppa, go for a walk outside, or visit your local coffee shop or men’s shed group.

Our Volunteer Coordinator will spend time with you to understand your interests and background, and they’ll work to match you with a client in a suburb nearby who may share these similar interests.

We’ll provide access to HammondCare’s online training modules and when you start onsite as a volunteer you won’t be alone! You’ll have another volunteer or staff member who will be your buddy and introduce you to people and guide you on your volunteering journey. You’ll also be supported by your local Volunteer Coordinator.

Time commitment

Ideally, you’ll be available for at least one hour per week over a 12 month or longer period. We’re happy to talk to you about a suitable day and time during the week (Monday to Friday) to volunteer.

Volunteers are required to complete a criminal record check, which we can arrange for you. All HammondCare Volunteers are required to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination
