What is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme?
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is a government subsidised programme that supports older people who are still managing well at home but need an extra helping hand with everyday tasks that require low-level support.
What are the services available?
The range of care and services available under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme includes:
Personal Care
Assistance with daily self-care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming and taking medication.
Domestic Assistance
Help with domestic tasks such as general house cleaning, unaccompanied shopping and linen services.
Cottage Respite
Overnight or weekend care delivered in a cottage-style respite care home or community setting.
Centre-Based Respite
Regular day care in a centre-based setting with plenty of opportunities to socialise and engage in meaningful activities.
Flexible Respite
Regular day or overnight care delivered in the home or in the community so that the carer can take some time out.
Assistance with Care and Housing
Coordination of care and support services to help older people who are in insecure housing, find and maintain permanent accommodation.
Social Support
Assists those who are older or frail aged to participate in community life and expand their social skills through social groups or home visits.
Allied Health and Therapy
Provides services that restore, improve or maintain health, wellbeing and independence in older people who are frail aged.
How can I access these CHSP services?
CHSP is accessed through My Aged Care, the access and information hub for all Australian Government Aged Care Services.
