Carer Support

Our support groups aim to provide emotional support and education for carers and family and friends of people living with dementia

Carers' Support Groups

HammondCare offers practical and spiritual Christian care for clients and their carers.

Support for carers is available through Carers’ Support Groups that operate out of every HammondCare residential facility. These groups aim to provide emotional support and education for those caring for or involved in any way with someone with dementia.

Meetings are held each month. Current and former carers come together to share information and caring skills to help themselves and their person with dementia. Support groups are a valuable source of emotional support for many who attend regularly or when they can manage.

The benefits of our carer support groups include:

  • Sharing experiences and feelings with others and being reminded that you are not alone
  • Learning more about the nature and effects of the ageing process
  • Information on caring techniques for managing someone living with dementia
  • A chance to listen to others who have similar experiences and circumstances
