Welcome to HammondCare Horsley

HammondCare Horsley is a residential care home specialising in dementia care. It’s made up of eight purpose-built domestic cottages designed to promote independence and familiarity.

Located just south of Wollongong, HammondCare Horsley offers unparalleled compassionate care for older Australians, either as permanent residents or in respite care, including those living with dementia.

What does HammondCare Horsley offer?

The warmth of home: All eight uniquely designed cottages provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere within a home-like environment. Every resident has their own single ensuite room, with access to dining and sitting areas any time, day or night.

Our relationship-based care approach means that our care teams will get to know who you are as an individual, your likes and dislikes; just like being at home.

Personalised care: While we prioritise providing a home-like environment, we believe expert clinical care is just as important. Our staff will engage in a continued partnership with your GP and arrange ongoing access to specialists, nursing care and health professionals.

Staff receive onsite training in aged and dementia care, so specialised clinical care is available to residents 24/7.

Engagement with life: Residents can participate in meaningful routines of daily life or sit back and relax. They are also encouraged to assist with meal preparation to help them feel included and valued. We tailor a variety of social, spiritual and recreational opportunities, and provide garden and outdoor areas for residents, their families and visitors to enjoy.

A fresh food culture: A variety of delicious, high-quality food is essential to everyone’s physical and emotional health. That’s why we spend significantly more on meals than the industry average, with all meals freshly cooked in the onsite domestic kitchens .

Surprisingly affordable: HammondCare offers the highest possible quality of care – but that doesn’t mean we cost more. Your financial situation won’t affect finding a place at HammondCare.

Open February 2022

We are excited to be opening two new cottages at HammondCare Horsley. The cottages will be opening in the first half of 2022 providing residential care to people living with dementia. The two eight-bedroom cottages will open in first half of 2022 and will be accompanied by a new onsite shop, hairdresser salon, cafe, and children's play area. These developments will expand services for residents and their loved ones and improve our connection to the broader Illawarra community.

The new cottages are built to our pioneering Cottage Model standard. Too often, aged care feels like an institution and not a home, which is why we created small environments with familiar and domestic settings. Indeed, smaller households were recommended by the Aged Care Royal Commission.

HammondCare Residential Care & COVID-19

HammondCare puts residents' health and well-being first. As we learn to live with COVID-19, we continue to follow the directives and guidelines of the Australian and the State Governments.

In addition to ongoing infection prevention and control measures, several additional steps have been taken to mitigate the risks and impact of COVID-19. HammondCare’s Pandemic Plan includes state-specific Visitor Guidelines, which are updated regularly, targeted staff training; procurement of necessary resources; additional cleaning practices; liaison with government and peak bodies; and regular communication updates to all relevant stakeholders.

Also, to allow visits to continue HammondCare created the Partnering in Care Program. The special infection control program for residential care home visitors makes it possible for people to keep seeing their loved one, as we understand how much visits mean.

The program is designed to help visitors continue their care home visits to manage risk in an intelligent and measured way in each home. Available to all HammondCare resident’s loved ones, the program helps inform and educate people on topics that can help minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
