Respite Care Services

A vital break for carers, while those they care for are safe and supported

What is Respite?

Respite provides short-term support so carers can have a break from their caring role, knowing that the person they care for is being well looked after. This includes in-home respite, overnight respite and centre-based respite.

HammondCare’s trained and experienced Care Workers can look after the person needing care in their own home or in one of our respite cottages. Each of our respite services are flexible, to meet the needs of the carer and the person being cared for. We also offer emergency respite for when unforeseen events arise.

Our Respite Cottages

HammondCare At Home also offer respite in our Respite Cottages. This enables carers, particularly of people living with dementia, the chance to take a break from their caring role.

The guests love that these are not located in residential aged care homes. The cottages provide guests with individualised support from our professional staff and are ideal for stays of up to 10 nights.

These services are offered in NSW Central Coast and Northern Sydney.

“I was nearly at my wit’s end and would have had a breakdown if the pressure of such an intense caring role had continued without any respite.” - Shelby

We offer three types of Respite Care for older people or those who are living with dementia: Centre-based Respite including Social Clubs; In-home Respite Care, supported by a care team in your own home; and Overnight Respite at one of our purpose-built Respite Cottages.

Social clubs offer guests a break from the home environment while enjoying a day relaxing and socialising with other people from the community.

Overnight respite in one of our Respite Cottages also offers a break from the home environment, providing short-term accomodation while enjoying delicious meals prepared fresh daily, along with specialised support and a range of social activities.

In-home respite provides short-term personalised care in the client’s own home with a trained and experienced care worker. Our team takes the time to get to know each client and understand individual needs.

The number of weeks or days can differ depending on the funding being accessed, either Commonwealth Home Support Programme or Home Care Package, or if paying privately for Respite Care. Each of our Respite Care services provide short-term and flexible support. In-home Respite can be accessed on a weekly basis and is flexible to meet the needs of the carer and client.

Our In-home Respite is flexible and meets the needs of the carer and the person being cared for. The main carer can take a break from their caring role, through the assistance of a care worker who helps with day-to-day responsibilities such as housework, personal care, social support, preparing meals and medical assistance.

Yes, we welcome clients at our Social Clubs within their local area as part of our Centre-based Respite, and Overnight Respite at one of our Respite Cottages located in Narara, Wahroonga, Miranda, Dubbo and Goulburn.
