A new respite cottage coming soon to Hamilton South
HammondCare is proud to be developing our first dedicated overnight respite service in the Hunter region, located in the heart of Hamilton South, just 3 km from Newcastle’s CBD.
As the largest provider of overnight respite in NSW, Hamilton South Respite Cottage will provide short stays in a warm, welcoming environment that feels like home, while offering carers a much-needed break.
What is overnight respite care?
When you're a carer, it’s important to take some time out to rest, recharge or take a holiday.Overnight respite care provides temporary relief to primary caregivers, while offering guests a comfortable homelike environment.
Respite guests are supported with daily tasks, provided with a wide range of social activities and can enjoy delicious meals prepared fresh daily.
Funded by the Hunter Aged Care Foundation
Our commitment to this project has been made possible through the generous funding from the Hunter Aged Care Foundation, ensuring we meet the growing need for quality respite services in the region. The project will be delivered in two phases with the refurbishment of the existing home, followed by the addition of a light-filled extension to accommodate the remaining bedrooms and ensuites.

The first phase: Renovating the existing home
The first phase of this exciting project involves the renovation of the existing period home, maintaining the charm and character of the building while introducing best practice design internally.
The result will be a space that feels welcoming and familiar, while providing the highest standard of care tailored to meet the needs of each guest.
Renovations are well under way and we look forward to welcoming guests later in 2025.
