Care and support for the caregivers

The Jean Marion Cottage was established by HammondCare to offer carers of older people or older people living with dementia a short-term break.

It means that we can care for your loved one on a short-term basis so that you can have some quality time to yourself knowing that the person you are caring for is being well looked after.

Personal and individual care

Because the Jean Marion Cottage is a small, welcoming suburban home, it has the flexibility to offer creative, individualised care to the person you are caring for. Before benefiting from this HammondCare Respite Cottage, you and your loved one are encouraged to meet with our service manager to discuss the suitability of the service for you as well as your individual needs and expectations.

FAQs

What are the options for Respite Care?

We offer three types of Respite Care for older people or those who are living with dementia: Centre-based Respite including Social Clubs; In-home Respite Care, supported by a care team in your own home; and Overnight Respite at one of our purpose-built Respite Cottages.

If you are caring for an older person, or a person living with dementia, you may be eligible to receive subsidised from the Government. To access In-Home Respite contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit www.myagedcare.gov.au.

Centre-based Respite, In-home Respite and Overnight Respite Care can be covered by either your Commonwealth Home Support Programme funding, Home Care Package funding or self-funded. Prices vary depending on whether Respite Care is provided out of hours or within normal hours. Please call us on 1800 826 166 if you would like to discuss more about costs or pricing.

In-home respite provides short-term personalised care in the client's own home with a trained and experienced care worker. Our team takes the time to get to know each client and understand individual needs.

Yes, you can pay for In-home Respite through your Home Care Package. Our Social Clubs and Overnight Respite Cottages are funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and guests attending our services do require the correct referral code. If you are on a Home Care Package, please call us on 1800 826 166 and we can direct you to speak with a Service Manager who can discuss your individual circumstance.

The number of weeks or days can differ depending on the funding being accessed, either Commonwealth Home Support Programme or Home Care Package, or if paying privately for Respite Care. Each of our Respite Care services provide short-term and flexible support. In-home Respite can be accessed on a weekly basis and is flexible to meet the needs of the carer and client.
