Exceptional care for everyone

Anna was just 50 when she was admitted to one of our specialised palliative and supportive care units in Sydney, after battling breast cancer for more than a year. She had just received the devastating news that the cancer had spread throughout her body, and there was no hope for a cure.

As you can imagine, it was a struggle for the loving wife and mother to leave her happy family home, her husband and their three beautiful young sons behind – but Anna was in excruciating pain, and knew she badly needed help.

In the peaceful surroundings of our palliative care unit, under the skilled care of Medical Director Dr Sarah Thompson and her team, Anna’s final weeks were transformed.

“We take the time to get to know each person and fully understand their wishes so they know they’re seen, heard, accepted and loved. We provide hospitality in the deepest and truest sense of the word. In Anna’s case, once her complex physical symptoms were managed, we were then able to open up the space for her to live her last days with safety and dignity and in the way she wanted, with her husband and children.”

Anna found so much peace and joy in our care that she told us:

“Some of my days here are equivalent to the happiest days of my life, my wedding day and the days my sons were born.”
