More staff per resident: Our staffing levels are higher than industry levels, with a high representation of registered nurses.
Engagement with life: We encourage residents to take part in everyday activities which provides a sense of purpose and feeling involved. This includes a variety of social and recreational opportunities, including gardening and music therapy.
A fresh food culture: High quality, varied, and delicious food is essential to everyone’s physical and emotional health. That’s why we ensure all meals are freshly cooked on-site and we spend significantly more on each meal than industry average.

At HammondCare, we believe food is essential to good physical and emotional health, and quality of life. Our food culture ensures that all meals are freshly cooked within each care home in small home-like kitchens, offer variety for residents and engagement in meal preparation.

How to become a resident
If you would like to apply to become a resident at HammondCare Darlinghurst, or apply for somebody else, you will need to complete the following:
- An assessment with an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) to determine eligibility for residential aged care
- Eligibility for the Age Pension, and completed Residential Aged Care – Calculation of Your Costs of Care (SA457)
- Provide answers to questions 8-13 of the Viability Expansion Component and Homeless Supplement Assessment (AC024)
A member of HammondCare will then arrange to complete HammondCare’s Care Planning and Assessment Tool (CPAT). The CPAT is used to gather information about a person’s abilities and care needs against 8 care domains. This assessment enables us to make sure we are suitable to provide the care that is needed.
