Section 3
Moving to a new room
Our principles of care, including the design or our homes, brings people together with similar care needs and abilities, while also enabling residents to maintain their independence in a safe, social environment.
As part of our regular assessments, we sometimes identify changes in your family member’s care needs. When this happens we may recommend a move to another room or cottage where they can receive care that better supports these needs.
Any move is always discussed with you and your family member first.
Helping your loved one settle in
You can help your family member feel supported during the move into a new room or cottage by:
- reassuring your family member about what is happening
- helping the team carefully set up the new room to feel familiar with the same items like the same pictures, bedspread or chair
- maintaining the same routines and visiting times
We regularly assess these needs to ensure that we continue providing the most appropriate care in the best possible environment.
We’re here to support you and your family member—making sure that your loved one receives care that respects their dignity, promotes independence and maintains their wellbeing.
