Help us bring comfort home
for palliative patients
Everyone deserves to live – and die – with dignity and choice.
Today, we’d love your support to bring more comfort to people with a terminal illness, so they spend more time where they belong: home.
Yes, I will bring comfort to palliative patients by making a gift today.
Most of us would prefer to spend our final months and days where we feel most loved and most ourselves: our own homes.
Right now, that’s not always possible.
Higher and more complex clinical needs are often unable to be met in a home setting, making hospital care necessary close to the end.
Now, HammondCare wants to expand our exceptional, person-centred palliative care so we bridge that gap between home and hospital, bringing more comfort to more patients like Alan in their final weeks and days.
Expert, safe and peaceful care – to the very end.
Alan was so full of life...
From the day Alan was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2022, he was determined to live as well as he could, for as long as he could.
‘That was his mantra,’ recalls partner Janette. ‘And that’s what he did. He was always so full of life.’
An actor and drama teacher with a big personality, Alan was referred to palliative care in early 2025. It was confronting, says Janette, but they felt ‘blessed and grateful’ for HammondCare’s support.
For nearly a year, the clinical team supported Alan and Janette at home – managing wounds, monitoring pain levels and administering medication, providing advice and support for Janette and helping them make decisions.
‘They were fabulous, every one of them,’ says Janette. ‘They worked so hard on building a relationship with us, and that enabled them to judge what was needed. It’s hard to put into words what their care and support meant to us.’
Although the plan had been for Alan to stay at home, complications in December 2025 meant he was moved to Greenwich Hospital, where he died five days later.
For people like Alan and Janette, your gift could address an urgent gap in palliative care – expanding the options available between home and hospital.
