Hannah Baird of The Palliative Centre

Service Manager, Palliative Centre Hannah Baird - Service Manager, Palliative Centre

BCA and MApSc

With 20 years in health and aged care program, policy and service roles, Hannah’s background has focused on developing healthy lifestyle campaigns, leading teams to provide supportive care during illness and providing timely end-of-life support and information.

Following a 3-year stint at NSW Health in the Centre for Health Promotion, she has led two national programs; the Community Quality Use of Medicines Program at NPS Medicines Wise and National Youth Cancer Services through CanTeen Australia.  Funded federally for delivery through state health departments, hospitals and peak health organisations, both programs required extensive stakeholder engagement, high-level reporting and delivery of evidence-based services and campaigns to improve consumer health choices and quality of life.

Hannah joined HammondCare in August 2017, as Service Manager supporting Dementia Support Australia (DSA) teams in NSW, ACT, WA and Tasmania, subsequently delivering service enhancements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and LGBTQI+ clients.

During her time, she has also managed the Dementia Centre Research, Projects, Communications and Publishing teams to build the evidence base, develop new resources and prepare comprehensive submissions and progress reports to the government.

As a Supportive Care Manager at Cancer Council NSW, DSA palliative care service extension and delivery of the Clinical Excellence Commission’s Report on Care for the Dying in NSW (2013), palliative care has been a common thread in her career.  Hannah commenced work at the Palliative Centre in December 2020.
