Dr Eddy Thientosapol graduated in Medicine at UNSW in 2005 and completed Physician training in Medical Oncology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 2013. He practised as a Staff Specialist at Liverpool Hospital from 2014.

During his Medical Oncology training, he commenced a laboratory-based research PhD at the Centenary Institute, Camperdown, with funding via an NHMRC Postgraduate Research Scholarship and an Australian Postgraduate Award. His published research uncovered the role of nucleotide supply in mutagenic mismatch repair during somatic hypermutation of B cells using mouse models. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 2017 and spent one year at the Molecular Immunology Laboratory at Rockefeller University, New York, with Michel Nussenzweig as his supervisor. He was awarded the Dean’s Prize for Student Research Publications Commendation in 2018. He was awarded a PhD by the University of Sydney in 2019. Eddy also completed a Master of Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney in 2016.

Upon arriving back in Australia in 2018, Eddy commenced post-fellowship Palliative Care training and completed this in 2020. He then joined HammondCare providing consultation services at Northern Beaches Hospital and the Southern NSW Local Health District.
