Making meaningful connections through Pastoral Care

Our pastoral care service helps nurture the emotional and spiritual needs of our clients and their families, by helping clients feel more connected and supported within their different circumstances, as well as helping them answer questions about the changes in their life.

This free service, available to all HammondCare At Home clients, is provided and coordinated by our dedicated pastoral care team.

When we discovered that home care client Gordon found it challenging to make new friends and to feel part of his new community, we wanted to help him feel more connected, especially through his faith. Gordon and his wife had enjoyed living in the Central Coast of New South Wales for many years before relocating in their mid-eighties, five years ago now, to be closer to family.

Since his wife sadly passed away, Gordon finds it difficult to get to church. Faith is an important part of Gordon’s life, and church is a key expression of this faith and is also a great opportunity to regularly meet with people.

Alongside the fortnightly domestic assistance visits he receives through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), Gordon is also very thankful for the complimentary Pastoral Care service, supported by volunteer John.

“I really look forward to John’s visits – he's a nice man. We’re both scientists, so we share similar backgrounds. And we get on very well, despite our difference in ages. We always have a good conversation, and share in a short prayer together before he leaves. This helps a lot as church is not easy for me to attend these days.”

HammondCare At Home care is tailored to your individual needs and for many, that includes complimentary pastoral care support.
