Michael Cooney's Christmas Message

Wishing you joy this Christmas Season

As we prepare to farewell 2021, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and partnership throughout what has been another challenging year.

Against the backdrop of COVID-19, you have continued supporting us in improving quality of life for the residents in our care. Our staff have worked tirelessly to build and maintain relationships with each resident, focused on helping them feel safe and connected during lockdown restrictions and constantly changing health advice.

One of the year’s highlights has been our Partnering in Care Program – its success reminding us of the value and importance of connection. Thanks again to your involvement, we won the NSW/ACT ACSA Aged Care Award for Innovation in Service & Design. With more than 1800 participants, 200 face-to-face sessions and zero infections from participants, we couldn’t be prouder of the result. Thank you for making this happen!

I also wanted to share an exciting project in the pipeline for 2022: the Life Engagement Project. Through our relationship-based model of care, further opportunities to engage in past or new interests will be provided. We have partnered with HammondCare’s Dementia Centre and the HammondCare Foundation to develop programs that are informed by research and philanthropically funded.

Stay tuned for more information in early 2022 about this exciting project. I’m looking forward to supporting you and your family as we roll out fresh initiatives for residents. And I am always keen to hear your thoughts on other ways we can continue to improve the lives of your loved ones that we are so privileged to serve.

Over the Christmas period, I hope you can take a moment to reconnect, rest and recharge. COVID cases are rising in the community, so please follow the health advice and HammondCare's visitor guidelines.

In the event of COVID cases, which can change our service and force visitor restrictions at short notice, we ask for your patience and understanding, as protecting the safety and wellbeing of the residents in our care remains the utmost priority.

I am so very grateful for your shared partnership in caring for and supporting residents.

Warm regards,

Michael Cooney
