Meet Social Club Manager Giorgia

Written by HammondCare | Jan 27, 2026 10:22:28 PM

Team member Giorgia manages HammondCare social clubs Forest Oak and Grey Gum in Caringbah and Engadine, just south of Sydney. Dividing her week between the two clubs, which open on different days, she’s never been happier.

Originally from Italy, Giorgia now calls Australia her ‘other home.’ She speaks three languages including Spanish (her partner is from Chile), and completed her Diploma in Dementia after moving here.

Can you please share what your role involves?

I oversee the daily operation of both social clubs, which involves supporting our team, welcoming clients, rostering and budget management. I’m very hands on, helping with activities or with preparing a healthy lunch for our guests, stepping in to support team members as needed.

What do you enjoy most about being Social Club Manager?

No two days are the same, that’s something I definitely love about my job! Also creating a place where people  feel safe, and are respected and valued for their personal experience and histories.

I’ve always loved being with older people and listening to their stories as both my grandmother and great grandmother lived close by. My mum, a trained nurse, was their main carer.

Where did your passion for caring for older people come from?

There were no home care services available for my family in Italy. They spent their lives looking after people, so they deserve dignity and respect. My mum’s selflessness also inspired me to care for others.

What is one wellbeing tip you’d like to share for the year ahead?

Being with other people is so important for wellbeing. When clients visit on a weekly basis, we really begin to see a difference with engagement and connection, and they start to make friends.

It’s inspiring to witness.
