Care Packages and Tablet Appeal

The people HammondCare serves are the most vulnerable at this time. Our number one priority remains their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Many are feeling frightened or isolated from their families and the community.

With the advent of COVID-19, we have had to make many changes to our services in response to the current situation. As a result, there are many needs that aren’t covered by government funding.

Our team is doing everything within their capability to show great compassion and to provide the highest quality of care to every single client, resident and patient.

But we can, and want, to do more.

There are two powerful ways that you can support us to make a difference to this situation: with Technology and with Care Packages. With a donation today, you will help provide vital resources that are essential to help alleviate the impact of social isolation of those in our care.

Sadly, in recent weeks, we have seen some of the negative impacts of social isolation – for example, some residents have preferred to take their meals alone in their rooms, rather than joining usual group mealtimes. There is fear – of the unknown, of illness – and also sadness, as people miss the physical contact they would usually have with their loved ones.

Because physical visits from family and friends have been reduced over the last few months to protect clients, residents and patients from COVID-19, we have begun to purchase tablet computers such as Samsung Galaxy Tablets. These allow those in our care to have video contact with family members and friends.

Many clients who receive home care from us are having difficulty obtaining basic food and household items due to mobility, health or financial reasons. To make sure they have the basic necessities to stay healthy and safe, our care workers are delivering Care Packages containing essential food items and supplies.

Thanks to the compassion of our donors, HammondCare has been providing tailored, holistic care to the most vulnerable members of our community for almost 90 years.

Right now, we need your help so we can focus on what we do best; providing exceptional care to our community, despite the current challenges we are facing.
