COVID-19 HCAH End of Year update

31 December 2021

Dear HammondCare at Home clients

Thank you once again for the privilege of serving you and your family in 2021.  As we head into 2022, I write in the context of increasing COVID cases and recent Government announcements to update you on how we are positioned to support you with the care you need. In particular, I want to reassure you that:

  • HammondCare At Home will continue to provide care wherever possible
  • While service changes may be necessary we will work with you to meet your care needs
  • We are maintaining our precautions at this time
  • We will work in partnership with you to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff

HammondCare will continue to provide care wherever possible

At HammondCare at Home, we will always try to provide the care our clients need wherever and however possible, even in a pandemic. Our Care Workers are trained to minimise risk, and to work in a COVID safe manner. For that reason, we encourage you to maintain your care visits wherever possible, whenever you feel comfortable doing so.

We will work with you to meet your care needs

With the increase in case numbers, many of our staff are being directly impacted and being forced to isolate.

In general we will try and avoid impacting the services we provide to you, but because of staff shortages, some changes to services may be inevitable. Wherever possible, we will try to only modify or reschedule services, but we would ask for your patience as we try to serve as many clients as well as possible.  If visits are essential they will be absolutely prioritised.

Please be assured that we will consult with you and work in partnership to ensure your care needs are met, even where there may need to be modifications to your care visits.

Additionally, our HammondCare support line is experiencing increased call volumes and wait times. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.  If your enquiry is less urgent, please feel free to email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and we will respond in a timely manner. If you do need to call our 1800 number, please be assured we are working to get to your call as soon as we can. We are working hard to address these constraints, but in the meantime we appreciate your patience in this difficult time.

We are maintaining our precautions at this time

In response to the increasing case numbers, we will be maintaining precautions to ensure the safety of clients and staff.  In particular:

  • We will continue with the pre-visit screening process, in order to ensure that we understand any COVID risks about which we need to be aware
  • We will continue to work closely with you and your family to minimise any risks during our care visits to you, or when you visit one of our Clubs or Cottages. This may mean that we may need to modify how we perform certain care tasks.

As part of our ongoing precautions, new government health advice has brought forward the eligibility of the COVID-19 booster dose to be able to be received four months after a second dose, and we are encouraging all staff and clients to get a booster once eligible, if you have not done so already.

We will work in partnership with you to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff

We recognise that changes to your care can be challenging for you and your families, and again, we will aim to minimise changes wherever possible.

However, where we do need to make changes, we would ask that you bear with your HammondCare team who are working within changing health guidelines and who will continue to work with you and your carers to provide the best possible care for you.

Thank you once again for trusting us with your care. If you have any questions about the information above, or if you need to talk about anything in this letter please speak to your Care Worker or your Care Manager.

Blessings to you and your family as we head into 2022 and please stay safe.

Warm regards
