COVID-19 Update for HCAH clients in the Dubbo LGA

11 August 2021

Dear Clients, Family and Friends,

Thank you once again for the privilege of serving you and your family.

I write in the context of increased COVID-19 risk in Dubbo and recent Government announcements, to update you on how we are positioned to support you with the care you need. In particular, I want to reassure you that:

  • HammondCare At Home will continue to provide care wherever possible
  • We are increasing our precautions at this time
  • We will work in partnership with you to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff

HammondCare will continue to provide care wherever possible

At HammondCare at Home, we will always try to provide the care our clients need wherever and however possible, even in a pandemic.

Our Care Workers are trained to minimise risk, and to work in a COVIDsafe manner. For that reason, we encourage you to maintain your care visits wherever possible, whenever you feel comfortable doing so.

We are increasing our precautions at this time

Just as we prioritise providing care for clients, we will also always prioritise the safety of our staff along side you. Obviously, in the current COVID-19 environment, it can sometimes be challenging to balance safety and care.

In response to the increasing risk in Dubbo, we will be taking additional precautions to ensure the safety of clients and staff.  Consequently, you may see a change in the services that you receive from HammondCare during this period of increased COVID risk. In particular:

  • We will be expanding the pre-visit screening process, in order to ensure that we understand any COVID-19 risks about which we need to be aware
  • We will continue to work closely with you and your family to minimise any risks during our care visits to you. This may mean that we may need to modify how we perform certain care tasks.
  • Even where we have minimised risk, there may be some tasks where it is impossible to adequately manage risk to you or our staff. In those situations, we may even need to cancel or defer non-essential care tasks at the current time.

Please be assured that we will consult with you and work in partnership to ensure your care needs are met, even where there may need to be modifications to your care visits for your safety, and the safety of our care workers. Additionally, if any modifications are required, we will revert back to normal care as soon as possible.

We will work in partnership with you to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff

We recognise that changes to your care can be challenging for you and your families, and again, we will aim to minimise changes wherever possible.

However, where we do need to make changes or where our increased precautions means that some tasks take longer than usual, we would ask that you bear with your HammondCare team who are prioritising your safety at this time.

Thank you once again for trusting us with your care. If you have any questions about the information above, or if you need to talk about anything in this letter please speak to your Care Worker or your Care Manager.

Blessings to you and your family and please stay safe.
