About the role:

HammondCare is an industry leader in dementia care and this role allows you to make a difference for residents in their day to day lives. The Cardiff Residential facility is opening two BRAND NEW Cottages in February 2021, and we are now recruiting both Casual and Part Time staff to join the HammondCare team. Our Cottage model creates a home-like environment for all residents that are living with dementia. The role includes personal care, life engagement, cooking, cleaning, administering medication (with training provided) and building relationships with residents and their families. The role is varied and fulfilling, and you will have the opportunity to “make someone’s day”. You will receive a comprehensive one week of training during onboarding as well as ongoing training and development will also be provided as part of the role.

 The carer role is a physical one, and physical capabilities are required to meet the role demands. We train staff in safe work practices and you need to be aware that the role requires you to be physically capable for all aspects of this role.

 

About you:

  • You genuinely enjoy assisting elderly people, have a regard and understanding of the older generation living with dementia and you want to make a difference to their lives;
  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
  • Be able to work independently and as well as part of a supportive team
  • Have knowledge & experience of people living with Dementia and their needs
  • Have the ability to problem solve and “think on your feet”
  • Be flexible with your working roster ie: be available to work every second weekend and across morning, afternoon and evening shifts.
  • Cert III or Cert IV in Aged Care, or be studying toward a healthcare related degree would be viewed favourably
