About HammondCare

HammondCare has developed innovative, flexible care models designed to serve people with complex health or aged care needs, regardless of their circumstances. 

The purpose built cottages at Hammondville opened in July 2019 and features a village centre, gym, courtyard gardens, art studio and hairdressing salon.

About the role

A Specialised Dementia Carer (SDC) is a multi-skilled role, providing personalised care and support to residents living with dementia in accordance with HammondCare’s philosophy of care and values. Our approach reduces the need for multiple people to provide different aspects of care, which can lead to increased levels of confusion and agitation for a person living with dementia.

As an SDC you will

  • Assist with the full range of duties including personal care
  • Maintenance of the cottage (eg. cooking, cleaning, laundry)
  • Provide opportunities for residents to engage in activities of daily living (eg. participation in domestic tasks), leisure activities and wider community involvement. 
  • Work together with other SDCs as a team

About you

You will succeed in this role if you have

  • The ability to work independently and to accept a level of responsibility, and be able to work as part of a supportive team environment.
  • A willingness to undergo training and be able to work within HammondCare’s unique philosophy of care that strongly supports each resident’s choice and dignity.
  • A desire and passion for caring for people living with dementia.
  • Experience in providing care for another person is well regarded (eg, aged care, child care, disability care).
  • Basic knowledge (or willingness to gain knowledge) of people living with dementia and their needs.
  • The ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs.
  • The ability to problem-solve.
  • The ability and desire to work within HammondCare’s Christian Mission and core values.
