HammondCare expands services in Scone

HammondCare will begin this month to offer home aged care services to Scone residents who receive funding under the Federal Government’s Home Care Package provisions.

National Operations Manager for HammondCare at Home, Jo Luhr, said Scone residents will soon be able to access home care services that will be delivered locally by specially trained staff.

“We have already an established relationship with Strathearn and will be basing our HammondCare at Home services from the local area.” she said.

“I have been busy interviewing and selecting staff for the past week, looking for people who are passionate about caring for older people and who have a strong interest in dementia.

“All staff employed by HammondCare will be required to undergo extensive training in supporting people with dementia to help them live at home longer.”

The 'Increasing Choice at Home' reforms were launched on February 28. Before this time, eligible recipients of aged care packages had to apply to approved providers for the delivery of services. The reforms have introduced the option for clients to change providers, have greater choice and to benefit from greater competition in the sector.

“In the past, service providers received a number of packages and people then applied to access a home care package,” she said. “Now the clients can choose who they want to deliver their home care services.”

Ms Luhr said HammondCare at Home was excited about opening a Home Care office in Scone.

“In a very short time we have forged strong links with the community and I think they will be delighted with the range of services and expertise we can bring to the Scone district.”
