Assoc/Prof Friedbert Kohler said he was surprised to be nominated for an Order of Australia. “When I first found out that I was nominated it was a real surprise. I really enjoy working in rehabilitation and trying to ensure that we provide the best services possible for our patients. I consider this to be an important part of being a doctor. To develop rehabilitation services requires engagement at a local, state, national and international level as the need and benefits of rehabilitation are not universally understood and appreciated.”
“My involvement at the local, state, national and international level is only possible because of the very high level of support that I receive. Firstly and most importantly, there is the support of my dear wife and family who support and accept that I spend a proportion of my evenings and weekends to help others."
"Then there is support of my colleagues and managers who encourage my continued involvement in furthering the development of rehabilitation services. I would like to sincerely thank all those who continue to support me in this work.”
