Leighton Lodge is a high-care home, housing 60 residents in 30 single rooms and 14 shared rooms. Shared rooms include 12 double rooms and 2 triple rooms.
Common areas and living spaces
We believe that the best place for people to be as they age is at home. When this is no longer possible, then our commitment is to provide an environment that feels as much like a home as we can make it.
Like a residential home, Leighton Lodge has a range of common spaces, allowing residents to choose where and with whom they spend their time. Leighton Lodge includes the following common spaces:
- A lounge area
- A dining area
- A number of small sunrooms
- A secure garden area
The open plan lounge and dining areas have a variety of chairs, recliners and lounges catering to different needs. The areas are carpeted, and the carpet is in good condition.
The dining room has new furnishings, which are in excellent condition. There is a digital TV and a piano in the dining area. Both the lounge and dining area are quite large, which gives residents the option to socialise, and engage in various activities.
The sun rooms have lounge chairs and a small table, providing a common space that still affords some privacy. Residents often use these rooms to sit and read, or meet with family members for a morning tea.
The backyards are well-kept, and have outdoor tables and chairs. Residents often use these spaces to meet with family and friends.
The backyards also have courtyard areas, shaded areas, raised garden beds and a vegetable garden.
Rooms and accommodation
The bedrooms and bathrooms at Leighton Lodge have been designed to maximise independence and comfort for residents.
For example, photos are located at the entrance to residents’ bedrooms to help them locate their private space. Residents are also encouraged to bring their own furniture with them, to help personalise their bedrooms and make them feel comfortable.
Each of the bedrooms at Leighton Lodge has a built-in wardrobe, and windows affording good natural light and overlooking the garden.
Leighton Lodge has both single and shared bedrooms. Individual rooms are 18.5 metres squared, while shared rooms vary from 25.5 metres squared to 31 metres squared.
All the bedrooms in Leighton Lodge are in good condition and have an ongoing programmed maintenance schedule to ensure that they are well maintained.
All the bedrooms in Leighton Lodge have an ensuite bathroom, shared between adjoining rooms. The bathrooms are in good condition and are equipped with an easy-access toilet, a basin and vanity unit, an accessible shower unit, wide access door, and a nurse call outlet.
