He will be talking about his pioneering work on understanding quality of life in the context of dementia and the development of practical methods for measuring it. Professor Henry Brodaty AO is Professor of Psychogeriatrics, University of New South Wales, Director, Aged Care Psychiatry and Head of the Memory Disorders Clinic, Prince of Wales Hospital. He has served on several New South Wales and Commonwealth of Australia committees related to ageing and dementia. He is a member of the Australian Government Dementia Health Priority Task Force and chairs the Working Group on Research and Innovation. He is the immediate past chairman of Alzheimer’s Disease International, representing 75 national Alzheimer Associations and is past president of Alzheimer’s Australia and Alzheimer’s Australia (NSW).
Dr Wilhelmina Hoffman, MD

Dr Wilhelmina Hoffman commenced work in dementia care settings as a care assistant in 1978. After qualifying as a doctor, she specialised as a geriatician and since 1999 has established a memory clinic, headed the “dementia project”, which involves intensive long term support of the person with dementia and their carers at the Stockholm Sjukhem Foundation, and taken up the post of managing director at Silviahemmet, the specialized dementia service established by the Queen of Sweden. She retains a firm commitment to helping direct care staff reach their full potential.
