INTRODUCTION

The Challenge Depression project has been funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care with the aim of reducing the level of depression in Australian aged care homes. It resulted in the publication of a manual, a video and a poster. These are being distributed via a series of seminars across Australia and are also available via this website.

The 220 page manual introduces a number of approaches to reducing depression in aged care homes but, like all manuals, is limited in the depth and scope of the descriptions it contains. This website has been established to provide an opportunity for anyone interested in reducing depression in aged care homes to 'post' their comments or suggestions so that others can share them. Brief comments are welcome but it is hoped that some substantial contributions describing successful programmes will also be posted.
